The Truth ...

Hematite Cannot Be Magnetized!

Hematite is not magnetic nor can it be magnetized! There are many artificial products like Hemalyke and hematine that are imitations of hematite that is magnetic.

Hundreds of companies have attempted to magnetize Hematite and have found it to be impossible.

It is sold with a rather misleading label/disclaimer: Magnetic hematite is formed from finely powdered iron oxide and heated until it granulates. During this process a strong magnetic field is applied to the material so that the molecular poles line up to form a permanent magnet. It is simply a synthetic ferrite magnet. "So-called" magnetic hematite is barium-strontium ferrite - definitely completely artificial and provides no cellular benefit to the body."

So don't be fooled and purchase Magnetized Hematite, there is no such thing.

Hematite, also spelled as haematite, is the mineral form of iron(III) oxide (Fe2O3), one of several iron oxides.

Hematite's popularity in jewelry was at its height in Europe during the Victorian era, and has since seen a strong resurgence in North America, especially in the western United States.

Hematite is a mineral, colored black to steel or silver-gray, brown to reddish brown, or red. It is mined as the main ore of iron. While the forms of hematite vary, they all have a rust-red streak.

Hematite is harder than pure iron, but much more brittle. Maghemite is a hematite-and magnetite-related oxide mineral.

Hematine (also known as magnetic hematite, hemalyke- a brand name, or hemalike) is an artificial magnetic material. Hematine is widely used in jewelry.

Although it is claimed by many that it is made from ground hematite or iron oxide mixed with a resin, analysis has demonstrated it to be an entirely artificial compound, in fact a barium-strontium ferrite.

Hematite has been valued through the ages when worn on the body as as the `stone of mental mastery` and `blood purifier`.

Lodestone is often confused by people as being the same as hematite or hemalyke because they do look the same. The differences are vast.

Lodestone is much more pure, having less iron oxide content and possessing a natural magnetic property. It is considered a rare Earth element that has been placed or worn against the body for discomfort relief in the recorded histories of many cultures dating back as far as 5,000 years.
